Bendet was established in 2011 by Bernd Meyer. Bernd Meyer had just returned to Piet Retief from a two year work experience in the United States of America. With the money that he had saved during this time and mentorship from his father and best friend Dieter Meyer, he bought an old Bell tractor tipper combination. Initially, he drove the vehicle himself, on a mine for Jindal Africa. And that is how this Construction Plant Hire Company was born.
Since 2011, the company has grown exponentially to one of the leading construction plant hire companies. Many vehicles, including excavators, tipper trucks, rollers, TLBs, rollbacks, lowbeds and water carts were added to the fleet.
